Not my favorite Micheal Pollan book. I really liked the early stuff about vegetables and weeds but the book turned into a doctoral thesis on garden design near the end that was incredibly boring. I can't see anyone outside of a landscape architect actually looking at their yard (sorry, "garden") with that much philosophical thought.

I really enjoy Pollan's writing but with the exception of "The Omnivore's Dilemma" he seems to get too far afield of his point at times. No amount of beautiful prose and poetry is going to make me care about flowers, much less think of them as sex objects.

I will still read his other books, but I'm hoping the others I have yet to read remind me more of "The Omnivore's Dilemma" than this one.
